Inside the Shop

Dooley and Sons Hot Rod Shop is housed in a 20,000 square-foot facility spread out over 15 acres. Due to rapid growth, we have recently broken ground on a 13,000 square-foot expansion of our chassis fabrication, and paint and body departments. Our collection of unique vintage signs gives our facility a unique look and feel. It's a great atmosphere that conveys our heritage and inspires new ideas. Visitors are always welcome to stop by for a tour. Thanks for taking a look around.

Sheetmetal Fabrication

Metal forming is a centuries-old tradition that plays a vital role in building custom hot rods. For some projects, cookie-cutter replacement panels are just too ordinary. For other projects, off-the-shelf replacement panels simply aren’t available. Long before English wheels, bead rollers and metal brakes were invented, early man learned to shape metal using the primitive tools at their disposal. While modern tools have made sheetmetal fabrication faster and easier, incorporating the same time-honored techniques as our ancestors can sometimes yield superior results. That’s why we’re just as likely to use tree stumps and and profile gauges as we are to use a Pullmax and a Bridgeport.

At Dooley and Sons, we’re not concerned with building cars in high volume. Our goal is custom fabricating panels that not only enhance the factory body lines, but also withstand the test of time. This often requires building panels from a single piece of metal instead of sectioning smaller pieces together, thereby eliminating unnecessary welds, planishing work, and body filler. The result is metal work that’s both visually striking and resistant to wear and tear.

Custom Chassis

Antiquated factory suspension systems were never designed to handle the horsepower and grip levels produced by modern engines and tire compounds. The best approach is a clean-sheet redesign, and Dooley and Sons’ custom chassis are the perfect solution for your musclecar, street rod, or classic truck project. Each chassis is custom built to each individual application, whether it’s a Chevy, Ford or Mopar.

Offered in two different trim levels - Street Force and Street Cruiser - key features include fully revised suspension geometry for improved handling and ride quality, and relocated control arm pickup points to lower ride height while maintaining full suspension travel. Our custom-fit framerails eliminate the need for floorpan modification and also maximize ground clearance.

With the most comprehensive list of standard features in the industry, Dooley and Sons' Street Force and Street Cruiser chassis offers a turnkey, no-nonsense solution to swapping out that antiquated factory hardware for a cutting-edge chassis and suspension. Just bolt up some wheels and tires and you’re ready to roll!
